Easy to grow in spite of its Brazilian origin. Spangles makes a fairly large spreading bush, decorated with conical chillies which ripen from light purple through white, orange and finally red. It tends to be a bit late ripening and so benefits from an early start.
Spangles has fleshier chillies than most baccatums, so they are best used fresh. The ripe chillies have a lovely sweet fragrant flavour and make a delicious mild chilli sauce.
